Frequently asked questions
What is managed IT, in plain terms?
It is an ongoing arrangement where a provider takes responsibility for an agreed set of your technology, such as users, devices, Microsoft 365, network and backups, for a recurring fee. Instead of paying someone after things break, you pay for maintenance, support, documentation and planning.
Is our organization too small for managed IT?
We typically work with organizations of about 5 to 200 employees. Even a five-person firm relies on email, files, devices and passwords, and benefits from having someone accountable for them. Very small teams can discuss a scoped arrangement or start with a one-time assessment.
How much does managed IT cost?
Recurring services are priced per user, per device or per site, per month. Our calculators show proposed figures you can use for budgeting. Your actual price is confirmed in a written quotation after we understand your environment.
What is not included in the monthly fee?
Hardware, software and Microsoft licences, projects such as migrations or office moves, applicable taxes, and after-hours work unless written into your plan. Your scope lists exclusions explicitly so there are no surprises.
Do you provide 24/7 support?
Coverage hours are agreed in your written scope. Standard plans cover business hours. Any extended coverage must be discussed and written into the proposal; it is never assumed.
Will someone come to our office?
Most work is done remotely. On-site visits are available in some areas, including our published locations, but availability, timing and cost are confirmed for your specific address and written into your scope.
We already have an IT person. Do we still need you?
Possibly not for everything. A co-managed arrangement lets your internal IT person keep ownership of what they know best while we handle routine operations, provide cover during absences, or help with Microsoft 365 and security work.
Who owns our documentation and passwords?
You do. Documentation, configuration records and administrative credentials belong to your organization. If you end the relationship, we hand them over through an agreed process.
How hard is it to switch from our current provider?
It takes planning but is routine. During onboarding we identify every administrative account and tool, coordinate with the outgoing provider, and confirm that their access is removed once our tools are in place.
Can you make us compliant with privacy laws?
We help you operate technology in a privacy-aware way, with access controls, encryption, multifactor authentication and backups. Whether you meet a specific legal obligation is a question for qualified legal or compliance advisers.
Are we protected against ransomware if we sign up?
No provider can promise that an attack will never succeed. What we do is reduce the likelihood and the impact: enforcing multifactor authentication, protecting and patching devices, filtering email, training staff and making sure tested backups exist.
Can we try your work before committing to a monthly plan?
Yes. A fixed-price assessment, such as the IT Infrastructure Health Check or the Microsoft 365 Security Assessment, or a one-day consultation lets you judge our work first. You keep the findings either way.
Do you build custom software or handle large cloud projects?
Not under the Podium Catchers brand. AI agents, automation and custom software go to our sister brand Mars Innovation Technology, and enterprise Azure, AWS or Google Cloud architecture to CloudArchitects.expert. We will make the introduction.
How do we get started?
Book a consultation or estimate your costs with the pricing calculator. After a short discovery, you receive a written scope and quotation. Onboarding begins only after you approve it.
