What the network assessment looks at

Office networks are usually installed once and then left alone until something breaks. Over time, firmware falls behind, the guest Wi-Fi ends up on the same network as the accounting server, nobody remembers the firewall password, and the internet connection becomes a single point of failure for a business that now runs everything in the cloud.

The Network Health Assessment examines the equipment and configuration that connect your people to the internet and to each other at one location. We document what exists, test what we can, and explain in plain language which issues affect security, which affect reliability and which simply make troubleshooting harder. The goal is a network your team can depend on and any technician can understand.

Deliverables

  • Current network diagram

A logical diagram of internet links, firewall, switches, access points, VLANs and key servers or printers.

  • Configuration findings

Firewall rules, remote access, Wi-Fi security and segmentation issues, each rated Critical, High, Medium or Low.

  • End-of-life equipment list

Network devices with their firmware level and, where published, the manufacturer’s end-of-support date.

  • Recommendations and readout

A prioritized list of fixes and upgrades with indicative effort, walked through in a readout meeting.

Scope

Included

  • Firewall model, firmware, administrative access and rule review
  • Remote access and VPN configuration
  • Wi-Fi security settings, guest network separation and a walkthrough of coverage at the site
  • Switch inventory, VLAN layout and port usage at a summary level
  • Internet connection, failover options and ISP equipment
  • DHCP, DNS and IP addressing overview
  • Existing documentation and credential ownership

Excluded

  • Cable testing, cabling installation or rack work
  • Professional radio-frequency survey with specialised equipment
  • Changing configurations or replacing hardware
  • External penetration testing
  • Additional sites beyond the one assessed

Prerequisites

  • Administrator or read-only access to the firewall, switches and wireless controller
  • Physical access to the network equipment for the on-site walkthrough, where applicable
  • Your internet provider account details and the circuit or service number
  • A local contact who can describe where Wi-Fi problems occur

Eligibility

  • Standard site

One location with one firewall, up to about four switches and ten access points.

  • Larger sites

Warehouses, multi-floor offices or campus layouts are quoted separately because the walkthrough takes longer.

  • Remote-only option

Sites outside a confirmed on-site service area can be assessed remotely with help from a local contact; Wi-Fi coverage findings are then limited to what can be observed remotely.

Pricing basis

The proposed price is a fixed CAD 599 per site before tax, pending business approval and confirmed in a written quotation. Each additional site is a separate assessment so the scope stays clear.

After the assessment, Network Monitoring keeps watch over the same equipment at a proposed monthly price per site, and the diagram we produce becomes part of the monitoring documentation.

How the assessment runs

About two weeks is typical from kickoff to readout; it is an estimate, not a commitment.

  1. Kickoff

We confirm equipment, access and the problems you have noticed.

  2. Remote review

We export and review firewall, switch and wireless configurations.

  3. Site walkthrough

Where available, we inspect the equipment, label key devices and observe Wi-Fi coverage.

  4. Report and readout

We deliver the diagram, findings and recommendations and answer questions.

Terms

Price, scope and terms are drafts pending business and legal approval and will be presented in full before checkout. End-of-support dates depend on manufacturer publications. The on-site walkthrough is subject to confirmation of your address. Taxes are calculated at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Will the assessment interrupt our internet?

No. We read configurations and observe the network. We do not restart equipment or change settings.

We lost the firewall password. Can you still help?

Yes. Recovering administrative access is a common finding. Any reset that could cause downtime is planned with you and quoted separately.

Does this include a Wi-Fi heat map?

The walkthrough identifies obvious coverage gaps. A full radio-frequency survey with specialised equipment is a separate service.

What if we have three offices?

Each site is assessed separately. We can schedule them together and quote the set before purchase.
